Some time ago, I posted an article on a few Russian artists who were being investigated for the content of their art shows. Their work was deemed subversive leading to their trial in Russia.

Later I posted a few articles about Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei, who is being harassed by the Chinese government over the subversive nature of his exhibits. 

The funny thing is, after posting about the Russian artists, my site began getting attacked specifically by "spam bots" that were posting gibberish and ads for pornography and pharmaceuticals in Russian.

After posting the article about Ai Wei Wei, the same thing began happening. My site was spammed 33 times by a "spam bot" that was posting porn links and other such information in Chinese.

I don't think it is a particularly crazy notion that websites supporting resident artists of subversive works in authoritarian countries would be censored by other means. 

Am I paranoid, or could this be real?
